Welcome to the road Young Drivers
Congrats! After a month of studying, getting your G1 then doing driving school and waiting a year you finally have your G2. Which means you can finally drive without your parents. Awesome right!?...WRONG. This means you have a big responsibility to fulfill which is that everyone in your car is safe at all times, especially yourself.
To make sure this happens I suggest you lay down some car rules. Now the first three should be pretty straight forward, you know the basics.
Don't drink and drive, Don't text and drive, Don't do drugs and drive. The same three being told all the time to be followed even though it's pretty straight forward.
Now seatbelts. Please make sure everyone in your car is wearing their seatbelt unless you wanna get slapped with a $1.000 ticket or even worse. Also don't speed I get it you're probably late for your 9am lecture or work and you have to be there in like 15 minutes but its not worth a $100 speeding ticket so please go the speed limit and don't go under either no one likes a grandma on the highway. DO NOT street race! That's the #1 way to put not only yourself but others in horrific danger and there is a great possibility you will crash. One wrong or if another car appears unexpectedly, there will be an accident. So if one of your friends come up with the stupid idea to street race say no please you’ll be saving lives. Last rule Obey all stop signs and traffic lights, do not be that person who runs red lights and stop signs, They were designed to keep us safe you do not wanna get a ticket for such a small but lifesaving thing,
Now moving on from safety rules it's time to talk about cars. I suggest for your first car you get a Toyota or a Lexus. It's great for a first time driver both cars have driver forgiveness and maintenance. Great for any first time driver. Also when you get your first car make sure you get maintenance on it often. Always wash it and keep the interior and exterior clean, check the fuel level often, always maintain proper tire pressure and check it monthly. Visually inspect tires every time you drive the car, check the fluids in the car (oil, brake, power steering, windshield washer) and make sure to do an oil change every 3,000 miles or as recommended in the car's owner's manual. Keep mirrors and windows clean (inside and out). Do all these to keep your car from breaking down. You want this car to last you years, not only two.
