Changing Your Own Oil vs at a Shop

Whether you own a car or a truck changing your oil can be very rewarding. It is a relatively simple process where you are just draining out the old oil refilling it and changing the oil filter. But I know that is easier said than done. You do have to climb under the vehicle, you do have to deal with your old dirty oil and that for a lot of people is not fun.

Here are the pros of doing it on your own. You can do it whenever, Changing your oil saves time when you compare it to driving to a shop, waiting an hour, and driving back to your home or work. The next reason is that you know that the job is being done correctly. A Lot of shops focus on speed and efficiency getting it done as fast as possible. Doing it yourself will be a big confidence booster. The last reason is that some shops will sell you cheap oil for a big amount of money. You know the proper oil is going into your engine.

Although changing your oil for your vehicle isn't difficult mistakes are bound to happen. Using the wrong type of oil for your car can affect the hydraulic components and could lead to engine damage. Changing your oil at home is more expensive.  They already have the equipment needed. If you are missing a tool for the oil change you might have to pay more than an oil change at the shop. Finally, it requires more equipment. You will need jacks, jack stands, ratchets to perform this safely without getting injured.

At Noble Performance, rest assured, our technicians are highly trained and we have the top in class equipment to get things done correctly for your car. We order high quality oil that most shops won’t get for their oil changes. We take pride in providing that.
